The Kansas City Chiefs' 40-22 Super Bowl loss to the Philadelphia Eagles cast doubt on tight end Travis Kelce.
Finally, after reflecting on his future, the Chiefs star decided to wear the team's colors for one more season. Although he did not give more details about his future, a former TE gave details of when Kelce's retirement may come.
In an interview with USA Today, Greg Olsen was asked about Travis' future and without hesitation, he praised his performance and career: "He's got the world at his fingertips," said the current Fox commentator.
I think he's one of the unique guys that's gonna be able to control how he leaves the game and when. And that's not the reality for most guys.
Kelce's numbers
The Kansas City star will turn 36 in October. Despite his age, several fans agree that he's been on a losing streak since last year. With 97 receptions, 823 yards and three touchdowns, he continues the downward trend he has been on since 2023.
However, for others, his undeniable chemistry with Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes makes him a key player on the team. In that regard, Olsen not only agreed that "he was very productive last year," but also asked that his numbers be looked at in a different light:
I think we've kind of gotten spoiled that we think every year he's gonna have twelve-hundred yards and 10 touchdowns. And I don't think people realize just how hard that is. I wouldn't put a limit on anything he does.
The truth is that, so far, Kelce has not set a date for his retirement and is looking forward to continuing to bring smiles to the faces of his fans with his plays.
