- NCAA. Arch Manning's biggest weaknesses exposed as Heisman favorite shows cracks in his otherwise flawless game
- NFL. Arch Manning's Texas Longhorns have fierce competition in NIL sphere from next door rival
We're getting closer to August 30, 2025, when the Texas Longhorns will face Ohio State in what will mark the beginning of a new NCAA season. Of course, the main attraction of this battle isn't just the two teams - it's the debut of Arch Manning as the new starting quarterback for the University of Texas.
Manning already started two games last season, though only because the Longhorns' starting quarterback at the time, Quinn Ewers, was injured. Now the true moment has arrived for the nephew of Eli and Peyton Manning, who is set to be the most closely watched player in college football.
The new star of the University of Texas already showed flashes of his talent when given the opportunity to play last season. Manning appeared in 10 games, started 2 of them, threw 9 touchdowns and 2 interceptions, and posted a er rating of 184.
There's another Heisman contender on the Texas Longhorns
Arch Manning is a favorite to be the No. 1 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft and is also a top candidate to win the Heisman Trophy. However, there may be another player on the Texas Longhorns who could quietly take that honor by the end of the season.
The new contender is running back Quintrevion Wisner. Michael Bratton, host of That SEC Podcast, shared his thoughts on Wisner and Manning - and the possibility of a Heisman battle within the Texas Longhorns.
"I went with Tre Wisner, the running back - over 1,000 rushing yards, over 300 receiving yards [last season]," said Bratton. "And I saw someone say today, 'Hey, bold prediction: Texas will lead the SEC in rushing, with all this attention on Arch.' I thought that was an interesting take, considering their offensive line will be completely rebuilt. But they've got a ton of talent down there... that made me think that Tre Wisner, while everyone's focused on Arch, could have a clear path."
Last season, Wisner was the Longhorns' leading rusher, helping them reach the College Football Semifinals for the second consecutive year. He rushed for 1,064 yards and scored five touchdowns, while also putting up impressive receiving stats - 311 yards and one touchdown.
This is just a prediction, but Texas Longhorns fans know they have a very solid team. And if Arch Manning turns out to be the NCAA superstar he's expected to become, the Longhorns could be among the top contenders to win the title this year.
