The first day of the 2025 NFL Draft was a great one for former Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart, who was selected by the New York Giants with the 25th pick. But it also shook fans and media alike, as Shedeur Sanders went undrafted and had to wait until the third day of the event. The former Colorado Buffaloes QB was eventually picked by the Cleveland Browns with the 144th overall selection.
With Shedeur's draft slide came major skepticism about why no one took a chance on him until the third day of the draft. But even with that setback, it seems he hasn't lost - and may have even gained more - respect from other quarterbacks around the league.
Many believed that Sanders would be drafted by a QB-needy team like the New Orleans Saints, Pittsburgh Steelers, or New York Giants - who traded up in the first round to select Dart.
Dart's a fan of Sanders
The former Ole Miss quarterback was recently asked to name current or former NFL players he ires. His first pick was Hall of Famer Brett Favre, and his second was Shedeur Sanders - a choice that surprised interviewer Kieran Hickey-Semple.
"Oh wow, OK. Is that a little glaze?" Hickey-Semple asked on Saturday, via Overtime. "No, no glaze," Dart replied. "It's love." The Giants' QB later added other names to his list like Josh Allen, Josh Allen and Tom Brady.
Both Sanders and Dart are competing for a starting spot in quarterback rooms full of talent. Shedeur is battling against Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, and Dillon Gabriel in Cleveland, while Dart is facing Russell Wilson, Jameis Winston, and Tommy DeVito in New York.
