Sacramento County has launched the Sacramento Family First (FFESP) pilot program, an initiative that offers low-income families$725 monthly , providing consistent financial relief amid rising inflation.
Inflation, which continues to impact millions of Americans, has created tense moments for the most vulnerable families, especially when trying to cover basic needs such as food, housing and childcare.
This program is part of state efforts to continue to low-income families financially, a strategy that gained momentum during the Covid-19 pandemic thanks to stimulus checks. Although many of those aids disappeared over time, the FFESP remains in place as part of a comprehensive plan focused on child welfare.

After an initial phase, the California Department of Social Services announced the official dates for the program: applications were available through the ffesp.org portal, opened on April 14 and closed at the last minute on Sunday, April 27.
Between April and May, 200 beneficiaries will be randomly selected, who will begin to receive payments in mid-June.
"FFESP staff will selected applicants to inform them of their acceptance by email, phone and text message from the week of May 5, 2025. If FFESP staff you, it is important that you respond before the deadline," reads the FFESP page on the date on which selected grantees will be notified.
In addition, it is recommended to respond immediately, as if the deadline is exceeded, the place could be assigned to another participant. If you do not receive a communication before June 6, it means that your application was not selected.
