Mexican actress and producer Salma Hayek has been chosen as one of the cover stars of the prestigious Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue 2025, and dazzled as she posed in a bikini with confidence and elegance that defies industry stereotypes.
During the photo shoot, conducted by renowned photographer Ruven Afanador, Hayek made it clear that her charm and magnetism remain intact. In statements to the magazine, the Frida star confessed to feeling surprised by this opportunity: "It's so weird! I'm almost 60! At this age, I wouldn't even have imagined it. The first thing I felt was that impostor syndrome."
The actress also appeared on Today alongside Savannah Guthrie, where she expressed her amazement at seeing herself on the cover: "When I was young and sexy, I used to look at this magazine to see who the new model of the moment was. I never thought I could be on that cover because they didn't look like me. My body is not necessarily the typical model body. For this to happen now, at 58, is really shocking."
Salma shares Sports Illustrated with Livvy Dunne and Jordan Chiles
Salma is not alone in this edition. She is ed by figures such as athletes Livvy Dunne and Jordan Chiles, and model Lauren Chan, forming a diverse and powerful group. According to MJ Day, editor-in-chief of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit, the issue not only celebrates beauty, but also the cultural influence of women like Hayek: "Every woman included this year brings a unique and powerful reason to be part of this issue. Salma is a force of nature as an actress, director, producer and advocate for women."
The actress, who has shared bikini images on her social networks on several occasions, has kept physically active through restorative yoga, walks with her dogs and juice cleanses. In previous interviews, Hayek has also revealed that she avoids the use of botox, fillers and peels, preferring natural ingredients such as Tepezcohuite, used in Mexico to regenerate the skin of burn victims.
"I don't feel like I've lost my flexibility, or my agility, or my strength... I'm still here. It's amazing. They've tried a thousand ways, but I'm still here," Salma said determinedly last year.
In addition to her acting career, Hayek maintains a solid career as a producer and occasional model. On a personal level, she has been married since 2009 to businessman Francois-Henri Pinault, 62, with whom she shares a stable family and professional life. Pinault is CEO of Kering, the conglomerate that owns brands such as Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent, Balenciaga and Alexander McQueen.
The 2025 edition of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit will be available on newsstands on May 17. With this cover, Salma Hayek not only reaffirms her status as a global icon, but also sends a clear message: age does not limit a woman's beauty, relevance or power.
