Formula 1 will close this 'triple-header' in Barcelona. The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya will host the Spanish Grand Prix, the ninth round of the 2025 season, and will take place from May 30 to June 1.
After two races in the 'old continent',Imola and Monaco, the premier category of motorsport arrives at the Spanish track.
Don't miss all the action from the Spanish GP
Lando Norris took victory in the Monaco Grand Prix, after a race with little action despite the new regulations of two mandatory pit stops. Charles Leclerc tried to put pressure on the race leader, but to no avail and the local hero had to settle for second place. Finally, Oscar Piastri completed the Monte Carlo podium and secured third place with important points for the Drivers' Championship.
On the other hand, Williams carried out its own strategy and its two drivers finished in the points. Carlos Sainz finished in the 'top 10' in Monaco and scored points again after the Imola GP. Unlike Fernando Alonso, who again suffered problems with the AMR25 and was forced to retire from the race. After the first eight rounds of the F1 calendar, the Asturian driver continues to fail to finish in the points.
F1 standings after the Monaco GP
After the Monaco Grand Prix, Oscar Piastri remains at the top of the standings, but his teammate is beginning to close the gap. With victory in Monte Carlo, Lando Norris picked up important points and is now three points behind the Australian driver. Meanwhile, Max Verstappen remains in third place, but the 'papaya' team is starting to pull away. Despite a poor race, George Russell remains fourth in the championship, and behind him are both Ferrari drivers, Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton.
Alex Albon scores more points in Monaco and closes in on Kimi Antonelli, who failed to score after a difficult weekend for Mercedes. Esteban Ocon continues in ninth place, while a good result for Isack Hadjar puts him in 10th place in the championship. Carlos Sainz scores again in Monte Carlo and is in 12th position in the drivers' standings. A different picture for Fernando Alonso, as he remains with zero points in the championship, after having another difficult race on the Monegasque track.
